Golf made an early imprint on
Sean McCue.
"I grew up playing golf at 8 years
old and fell in love with the game,"
he said.
Flash forward to today and McCue
makes his living as The Country
Club at Castle Pines superintendent
in Castle Rock, Colo.
That's a great fall back position to
have when being a pro golfer is out
of the question.
"This was kind of the next best
route for me to go that enabled
me to be on the golf course every
day and enjoy the benefits of that
lifestyle."
McCue, 48, has called Castle
Pines home for 20 years.
Crazy about Colorado
"I've been all over the country,"
McCue said. "I'm originally from
Philadelphia. I've worked in
Pennsylvania, Florida, Colorado
and California. I've bounced
around. I've seen quite a bit of
the country both warm- and cool-
season grasses."
The Penn State graduate with a
degree in turfgrass management
warmed up to Colorado quickly.
"It took me one summer out here
to figure out this is the place you
want to grow grass," McCue said.
"Growing grass out here has got
its own set of challenges, but it's a
lot easier to do out here than some
other portions of the country."
