GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 25, ISSUE 5 49 OCT. 15, 1990 (VOL. 1, ISSUE 4) The image of Glenn Robinson, Brandon Brantley and Alan Henderson pictured at the court- house in Lafayette caused quite a stir as Coach Gene Keady was working to land the three hot prospects. Keady signed two of the three, with Hen- derson going to Indiana, but the cover, and the publicity surrounding it, provided the impetus to push Hoosier fans to start up their own magazine a year later. MARCH 20, 1992 (VOL. 2, ISSUE 23) Woody Austin's remarkable sec- ond-half shooting performance against No. 3 Indiana led the Boilermakers to a monumental upset on senior day. The nationally televised 61-59 win gave Purdue fans much to cheer about after a lackluster regular season. Nothing was better for Purdue fans than beating IU and Coach Bob Knight, especially when few thought it was possible. AUG. 31, 1992 (VOL. 3, ISSUE 1) Sometimes our most important pieces are the ones about the lessons learned by former Boil- ermakers. There was no greater example of this than the story of Darryl Stingley returning to Purdue to get his degree. It was a promise Stingley, who was paralyzed in a NFL game 14 years earlier, made to his mother, who is pictured on this cover soaking in the great moment. NOV. 5, 1993 (VOL. 4, ISSUE 9) In the last 25 years, there was no period that enjoyed greater passion for Purdue hoops than the days of the Big Dog. While the Boilermakers started the 1993-94 season unranked, Robinson led Purdue to a No. 1 seed, its first Big Ten title in six years and a Elite Eight appearance. And GRob was the national scoring champion and player-of-the-year. It was the toughest ticket in Purdue sports since the days of Rick Mount. A picture is worth a thousand words and there is a little doubt these images literally take a snapshot of the story of Purdue athletics over the last quarter century. So here goes ... — Alan Karpick
