T he softball team sweeping the Big Ten regular-season and tourna- ment titles marked just one high- light among several for U-M teams this spring. Here is a recap, through May 11, of the latest results and hon- ors for Michigan's Olympic sports programs. BASEBALL (31‑21, 14‑10 BIG TEN) The Wolverines lost two out of three against Iowa May 1‑3, lost to UIC May 5, defeated Central Michigan 6‑5 in 10 in‑ nings May 6 and finished up their Big Ten schedule by taking two of three from Northwestern May 8‑10 … Michigan led the Big Ten in batting average (.302) and doubles (114) through May 10 … Soph‑ omore Carmen Benedetti had reached base in 28 consecutive games, while bat‑ ting .398 and leading the team in doubles (11) and RBI (31) in that stretch … Sopho‑ more Brett Adcock boasted a 5‑2 record with a 3.35 ERA and 72 strikeouts on the season … U‑M will finish the regular sea‑ son with a home contest against Eastern Michigan May 12 and then a three‑game series against No. 13 Oklahoma State May 14‑16 in Ann Arbor before compet‑ ing in the Big Ten Tournament May 20‑24.
