MICHIGAN IN THE PROS leads the New York Rangers in postseason goals since the 2013 playoffs with 12, and he also has 22 points in his 48 playoff games since 2013. He saved one of his most critical for a 2‑1 win over Pittsburgh in game five that sent the Rangers to the Eastern Conference semifinals, only two games after his critical breakaway goal led the team to a 2‑1 series lead. "He's good at getting breakaways and getting behind the defense," Rangers forward J.T. Miller told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "He was flying. He absolutely knows when to make those plays at the right time." Hagelin didn't have an explanation for his improved play after a wrist shot ended the series in overtime in game five. He finished the regular season with 17 goals and 18 assists. "Every guy elevates their game in the playoffs, and I usually feel that I have another gear," he said. "I don't know exactly what it is, but the more that is at stake the better I usually play." Hagelin, skating to the right faceoff circle, wristed a shot inside the near post past Marc‑Andre Fleury at 10:52 of overtime. It ended the fourth game won by the Rangers by a score of 2‑1. "I can't describe [the feeling]," the former Wolverine told Newsday. "I had goose bumps. I heard the crowd getting louder and louder, and then [teammate] Dom [Moore] was yelling in my ear. One of the happiest moments of my life. "I didn't do much that shift until I saw Dom was in trouble. I went behind there to pick up the puck … I took a shot and somehow it went in." Hagelin cooled against Washington in the semifinals, notching only one assist through the first six games. Game seven was set for May 13.
