That could change, of course, and likely will with attrition. The Wolverines need a point guard, for one, and the list of candidates is expanding. Here's a look at where things stand with the top 2016 and 2017 prospects. Class of 2016 CASSIUS WINSTON 6-0 • 165 • PG Detroit U-D Jesuit High Rivals.com No. 23 junior nationally Michigan coaches have been watching Winston for more than two years, and the four-star prospect has become the point guard priority in the 2016 class. He finished his junior season as a first-team Class B all-state selection in Michigan after averag- ing 22.3 points, 7.1 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game for Jesuit, passed the 1,000 career-point plateau (1,296) and has 489 career assists. Winston continued to play well in the spring AAU season, notching two 30-point games for The Family in the Hampton, Va., Nike EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League) event in April. He said Michigan, Michi- gan State, Marquette, Iowa State and Pittsburgh are his current top schools, though U-M and MSU are considered the favorites. "Michigan has a good coaching staff and they are almost like fam- ily, so I'm real comfortable with the coaches there," Winston said. "The playing styles are different and coaching styles are different. They are just two different programs, but they are both really good programs.
