Wastewater levels in the Village of Westport's two sewage lagoons appear to be at levels that would mean no trucking of waste this spring. As of Sunday night, the larger original lagoon that initially receives waste- water from the village, was at 107 cm deep, well short of the 150 cm capac- ity. Lagoon two, a smaller pond that further treats the water from lagoon one, before land application, was at 166 cm. The approved capacity is 180cm. The Festival of Small Halls is coming to the region this fall, a project of Ottawa's Bluesfest to bring exceptional Canadi- an musicians to small venues across Eastern Ontario. Organizers took a tour of halls last month and chose three halls in Rideau Lakes, two halls in Leeds and the Thousand Islands and two halls in Tay Valley. The seven small halls in the area which are par- ticipating include Boling- broke's ABC Hall, Sep- tember 27; Chaffey's Lock Hall, September 18; Delta Old Town Hall, Septem- ber 25; Maberly Commu- nity Hall, September 20; Morton Community Hall, September 27; St Luke Church Hall in Lyndhurst, September 24; and See- ley's Bay Community Hall, September 19. Other communities in Eastern Ontario which are participating include Almonte, Clayton, McDonald's Corners, Pembroke, Renfrew, Spencerville, and West- meath. C e l t i c / T r a d i t i o n a l artists in from Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton will be coming to the small halls, with a few local openers to kick off the shows. The only performers which have been con- firmed are Gordie MacK- eeman and his Rhythm Boys who will be per- forming somewhere some time during the first week- end. More information will be coming soon to www.thefestivalofsmall- halls.com.
