I watch the weather and if that means mowing the pitch on a Saturday using my pedestrian Honda (rather than the Dennis G860), then that's what I do." He adds: "I have certain items of kit that are indispensable; the Sisis Javelin Aer-Aid air injection aerator, the Sisis Autoslit, Sisis Quadraplay and the Redexim Chaterhouse 7212 Verti-Drain. I have aerated from early October through to February and I use the Quadraplay after every game. In addition, I work closely with a number of companies in my quest for organic-based products – Laverstoke Park Laboratories, Carbon Gold, Rigby Taylor and Andrew Turnbull – and I enjoy good support from Green Choice, Martin Lishmann, Rigby Taylor, Severn Amenity Services and Symbio. It would be very difficult, perhaps impossible, to succeed in what I'm doing without their help. "Of course, the publicity surrounding the IOG Industry Awards [and Stewart's shortlisting for the Conference League Groundsman of the Year Awards in seasons 2011/12 and 2012/13] all help the club to spread the eco message and boost its campaign for sustainability in football, which as is evident, will continue to grow a wider public audience. l Pitch Sequestration 0.055 0.395 0.815 0.831 0.831 0.831 0.706 0.665 0.623 0.563 0.577 0.558 7.448 May June July August September October November December January February March April Total May June July August September October November December January February March April Total 1.919 2.375 2.352 1.809 1.323 0.761 0.428 2.242 1.964 2.972 5.586 9.472 33.202 1.974 2.770 3.167 2.640 2.154 1.591 1.133 2.907 2.587 3.535 6.163 10.030 40.650 836 748 871 220 616 704 704 616 792 836 484 748 8175 Saved Solar panels Total Generated CO 2 tons Car mileage to and from work Annual CO 2 usage figures for the pitch, 2013-14 Months Car CO 2 Usage in tons Machine usage CO 2 tons Total CO 2 Usage in tons Monthly CO 2 Calculations in tons 0.091 0.082 0.095 0.024 0.067 0.077 0.077 0.067 0.086 0.091 0.053 0.082 0.891 0.020 0.367 0.430 0.046 0.190 0.187 0.281 0.651 0.372 0.516 0.510 0.226 3.795 0.111 0.448 0.525 0.070 0.257 0.263 0.358 0.718 0.459 0.607 0.562 0.307 4.686 1.863 2.321 2.642 2.570 1.897 1.328 0.776 2.188 2.128 2.928 5.600 9.723 35.964 A student undertakes Performance Quality Standards tests on the school pitch...A groundsman of the future?
