L E D & E M C • June 2015 • 29 companies were competitive and they didn't want to help anyone get into the business. He finally found a mentor who did everything by hand. Because of his art background, he loved learning the ropes from someone who did it all old-school. From there, Gardner started finding ways to use digital techniques to make old-world style signs. And that meant jumping into digital printing in its early stages. "Some of these sign guys haven't caught on to the concept of buying a printer. They are still doing the old- school method of air brushing 3- D effects on it," he says. "When you consider the time and cost involved, he can't get the (price) that I can demand for printing something." Gardner prides himself on getting ahead of the curve in everything he does. He started out doing vinyl lettering on doors, monument signs and billboards but decided he needed to differentiate his company just a bit more. About 10 years ago he got into doing vehicle wraps. That was a good market that quickly became saturated in his area with companies offering the same work, so he began looking for another option.
