The massive dance festival returns to Upminster on May 30th and 31st We Are FSTVL may be one of the first of the season but that doesn't mean it won't be also be one of the best. The location is bang on – it's out of the city so there's actually a bit of space but remains accessible by tube. It may have only been on the scene for a couple of years, but the line-up for We Are FSTVL gets bigger and better every time. Defected In The House, Used + Abused, Toolroom, Cocoon, Hospitality and Paradise are just some of the labels hosting stages across the weekend. The bill features basically all the biggest names in house and techno, it's like an entire Ibiza season condensed into two days - Carl Cox, MK, Hot Since 82, Masters At Work, Noir, Art Department, Cyril Hahn, Loco dice, Tensnake, Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, Jamie Jones, Marco Carola, Jackmaster, DJ EZ, Richy Ahmed, Steve Lawler, Max Chapman, Lee Foss, Ben Pearce, Dusky, and Kevin Saunderson….need we go on? The organisers have also put real effort into the VIP package, making it actually worth forking out extra for. As well as all the usual extras, the VIP area includes its own stage with properly massive acts playing; Toolroom Live host it on Saturday and MK Area 10 takes over on the Sunday. Village Mentality Field Day is loosely based around the idea of a village fete, and they play homage to this premise with Village Mentality. Open from 1-5pm, you can find all the bunting, straw bales, sideshows and classic games your heart could desire – human steeplechase, duck-egg and spoon race, tug-of-war, Splat The Rat, sack races, coconut shy, the list goes on. The games may be familiar but Field Day have levelled up on the prizes, which include collectables from festival acts, guestllist spots for after-parties and goodies from Rough Trade. This is old-fashioned fun with a difference. Grub People expect a good bit of scran at their festivals nowadays, and Field Day definitely don't disappoint on this front. Street Feast return to the Field Day 'food stage' with the likes of Smokestak, Busan BBQ, Anna Mae's and Spit & Roast in tow, and Venn Street Market journeys north of the river with delights like Churros Bros, Crabbie Shack, Happy Maki, Taco Truck, Moto Yogo, Dough Bros….ok time to stop, getting very hungry. London Brewers' Market will also be back with the very best of the capital's brewing scene ensuring that nobody goes thirsty. Vicky Park Victoria Park is becoming quite the festival spot, hosting Field Day in June, Lovebox and newbie fest Citadel in July – it even got in on the Xmas action last year with Winterville. East London's little slice of paradise has ponds, tennis courts, skatepark, a pavilion, a pagoda and plenty of green space to soak up the sun in. It's big enough to host multiple festival stages but small enough that it doesn't take an age to move around, meaning the dreaded set clash can be avoided, it's super easy to get to via public transport, and it's close to all the after party action.
