36 INDIE / ROCK guestlist.net Issue 75 / 2015 After exploding onto the scene with an accidental hit 'Howling', Australian singer/producer/cult folk artist Ry X (of The Acid) and Berlin's 4/4 innovator Frank Wiedemann (of Âme and Innervisions), who adopted the moniker of their first song, have just dropped their debut album Sacred Ground. Recorded on the fly whilst touring Europe, the duo have created an acoustic electronic sound that has traces of both artists but is unexpected and unique. The pair playing Oval Space on May 22nd, and given the soundscapes they have crafted, it's sure to be a spectacular show. Artist Of the MOnth hOwling The Aussie/German duo are set for success with Sacred Ground El Libero are made up of Dublin-born singer-songwriter and guitarist Eoghan Gallagher, vocalists Niamh O'Reilly also from Dublin and Emaé from Aberdeen, and drummer Hristo Dushev from Bulgaria, and will be releasing their debut EP Above on June 15. Along with their EP announcement, the 4-piece indie rockers are proud to unveil 'Butterfly', the first single, accompanied by a mesmerising music video, directed by Speeding Films' Torstein Jacobsen. Inspired by Marilyn Monroe and her 2011 biography Metamorphosis, El Libero's 'Butterfly' is a celebration and appreciation of strength and hope in the face of personal darkness and despair. Life-affirming as it is restless in parts, the new El Libero single is a rousing call to arms in true indie fashion, as it wills its listener to "keep that light on, 'coz it radiates the darkest skies", backed by a glorious backdrop of experimental guitar effects and an infectious groove on drums and bass. Blending memorable melodies and buoyant guitar arrangements, with captivating vocals and contemplative songwriting dexterity, El Libero aren't just another new indie band. This 4-piece are the real deal, and have a growing reputation for boisterous live performances - having already conquered the Royal Albert Hall, Dublin's National Concert Hall and the Royal Opera House along their way, there's no wonder El Libero are already drawing comparisons to legends such as Fleetwood Mac, Snow Patrol and The Swell Season. All five original Fleetwood Mac members are back together for their hotly- anticipated On With The Show Tour, which hits the O2 on May 27th and 28th, and 22nd, 24th, 26th and 27th June. Christine McVie, who has rejoined bandmates Mick Fleetwood, Jon McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks after a 16-year absence, has said, "It was so comfortable being back onstage with them as if no time had passed, and then we all started talking and it feels like the time is right. I'm really happy". The whole band performing all their greatest hits – this is a once-in-a-lifetime deal. guestlist recOMMends Emerging indie band El Libero meld vibrant indie rock, folk, pop and a hint of soul el liberO fleetwOOd MAc The music legends play the O2 Arena at the end of May and June Our PlAYlist Made My Mind Up Mikal Cronin Heaven Sent Best Coast Handsome The Vaccines Big Decisions My Morning Jacket Here's the indie on our playlist this month: More @ guestlist.net/Indie
