52 REGGAE / DANCE HALL guestlist.net Issue 75 / 2015 Last October, history was made at Earls Court when bass superstars Chase & Status and Rage, original Digital Soundboy Shy FX and reggae legend David Rodigan performed together for the very first time as Rebel Sound, winning the Red Bull Culture Clash. Last week the supergroup brought Sir Trevor McDonald out of retirement to record a special news report revealing details of the group's summer of high profile slots at some of Europe's biggest festivals. Now they unveil the first of three exclusive dubs to drop in the coming months, the explosive 'Dub 1' which features Ninjaman and Ms Dynamite. news Rebel sound aRe back with a bang The winners of Red Bull Culture Clash return with 'Dub 1' The children of legendary reggae artist Denroy Morgan, Morgan Heritage – Peetah Morgan (vocals), Una Morgan (keyboard/vocals), Gramps Morgan (keyboard/vocals), Lukes Morgan (rhythm guitar) and Mr Mojo Morgan (percussion/vocals) – are one of contemporary reggae's leading lights. The quintet is ready to release their new album Strictly Roots on 15th June, via their own label CTBC (Cool To Be Conscious) Music Group. This album is actually their first as an independent release, an effort that Una Morgan hopes will be "an additional example for others to follow". Already hitting the top spot on the US iTunes Reggae Chart, Strictly Roots features a range of guest performers including dancehall phenomenon Shaggy, American vocalist J Boog, Eric Rachmany, Bobby Lee, and fresh Jamaican reggae sensation Chronixx. BBC Radio 1/BBC 1Xtra's Seani B has also been called in, co-producing the lead single 'Perform and Done', which has received wide airplay in the US, and is set for UK release on May 25th. Not only are Morgan Heritage a fantastic live act with a rich musical legacy – Eric Rachmany called them "one of the best reggae bands of all time" – the group are committed to important causes, and have partnered with Oxfam America for their current tour of the States. Morgan Heritage will bring their incredible live performances to Europe later in the year, with the album all set up for a scorching summer release. album of the month More @ guestlist.net/Reggae The roots reggae ready their new album for release on 15th June, via their own label CTBC (Cool To Be Conscious) Music Group moRgan heRitage - stRictly Roots Following the success of Channel One meets Digital Niyabinghi back in March, dub, jungle and reggae is hitting The Prince of Wales on June 5th.
