INAUGURAL BUD LIGHT SCORE BAJA SUR 500 RECAP M any SCORE Baja 1000 peninsula races have traversed the beautiful terrain of Baja California Sur, but on April 18, 2015, SCORE held its Inaugural Bud Light SCORE Baja Sur 500 consisting of a 424.52 mile race course entirely inside the state of Baja Sur. A New Course Built With Cooperation And Partnerships SCORE CEO and Baja 1000 winner, Roger Norman, enjoys a challenge. That is part of how this new race happened. "I am always looking for a course that is new and exciting, I am a racer and I really enjoy the challenge of a new course. It's also a big challenge for SCORE to do something new. We worked closely with the locals and government of Baja Sur and we started talking about this race almost two years ago." "It was a major commitment for SCORE to take a chance on a race this far away, but for the future of the sport, starting a race in Cabo San Lucas and finishing in Loreto is a dream race," says Norman. "It could change every year, and start/ finish in different towns in Baja Sur. Everybody is excited, they are all really stoked on the race and how fun the pre-run has been. The best part of all racing in Baja is the pre-running. At this race, people can get to know a lot of the cool little towns like Todos Santos, San Javier, Loreto, Constitucion, Insurgentes during pre-running." The course started in the wash in Cabo San Lucas, just a few hundred yards from the blue waters of the Gulf of California. From Cabo, the course went North to Todos Santos then along the coast and the Pacific Ocean where it went inland at Los Inocentes.
