While it's not ready for prime time yet, Cody says it's not too far off. "The goal is to have a large-scale test at the 2015 Baja 1000 on as many unlimited vehicles and bikes as we can get them on." Cody can't hide his excitement at the potential the system offers: "It's wild! The possibilities are unlimited!" It won't be free, of course, but Cody explained that as the technology progresses, it will be much more affordable and effective for the racers. "As we get more technology and stuff, it's going to be a little more work for the racers and may cost a little bit more. But in the end, it will be better," says Cody. North of the border, the Foundation has also been very active, especially in the AMA Hare & Hound National Championship Series which Caselli won in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The foundation has enlisted multi-time Baja champ Paul Krause to pre-ride Hare & Hound courses a day or two before an event. One of the big differences between Hare & Hounds and SCORE races is that Hare & Hound competitors aren't allowed to pre-run anything past the initial start area. It's referred to as the bomb run. That fact makes course marking extremely important for the protection of the riders. So far, Cody and the foundation have found these courses to be up to spec. "Really, we add a little bit of marking here and there, but, for the most part, the clubs do a really, really good job. My job is basically, is just a final sign-off before they go racing," says Cody. "So far, riders haven't come back and complained that the danger markers were bad or if they hit a ditch. So that to me has been a good thing." The Kurt Caselli Foundation has also provided signage to warn other area users that a race is taking place since the Hare & Hounds races usually take place in open riding areas. In addition, every racer in the Youth Hare & Hounds divisions is now issued a bright orange bib to increase their visibility. What may be the most important advancement in this type of competition by the foundation, is adding concussion management that started with the Youth Hare & HERE'S AN EARLY VERSION OF THE "HOLSTER" USED TO SECURE A TRACKING/ EMERGENCY ALERT UNIT. THE FOUNDATION NOW HAS AN UPDATED MODEL; ADVANCES IN SOFTWARE SHOULD RESULT IN ALERTS SENT AUTOMATICALLY TO THE SCORE COMMAND CENTER IF THE BIKE GOES DOWN. 086 SCORE JOURNAL
