INAUGURAL BUD LIGHT SCORE BAJA SUR 500 RECAP LAGUNA AND THE RPM OFF-ROAD TEAM HAD A TOUGH TIME TRYING TO PASS ROB MACCACHREN BUT MANAGED TO PASS AND TOOK THE LEAD FOR THE VICTORY. course enjoying a few cold beers under the hot sun. On Saturday April 18th, the race began as the first bike left the starting line at 6:45 am. Colton Udall was first off the line on his 5x Honda CRF450X followed by top riders Ricky Brabec and Mark Samuels. Udall iron-manned the race and in the end he took the checkered flag to win the Inaugural SCORE Bud Light Baja Sur 500 in a time of 7 hours, 42 minutes and 58 seconds, with an average speed of 55.18 mph. "I Iron- manned this race and that's the biggest milestone for me," said Udall at the finish. "One awesome moment in the race for me was when Justin Morgan (Ricky Brabec 1x co-rider) and I were racing just after La Paz. We battled back and forth and both had the bikes wide open. It was a battle for the power of the dust." "When you are starting in Cabo it is a different game because it is harder to stay focused because it is a party town," said Udall. "I love it down here. There was a lot of the terrain similar to races starting in Ensenada, but not so many whoops and the course is very fast. I'm holding the bike wide open a lot down here. I really like the fact that SCORE races are being televised because that is huge for our race team. We are running on nothing but pure heart, and that is pretty much all. We have some key sponsors that are getting the job done, but it is a lot of work and a huge investment that I hope will pay off in the end." Trophy Trucks Battle To Pass And Win Four hours after the last quad left the starting line the bad boys of off road racing, the Unlimited Trophy Trucks, took the start. The field featured a long list of big hitters in the Trophy Truck ranks including five series champions that included 2014 Season Champion Steven Eugenio, along with Armin Schwarz, Mark Post, Jesse Jones, Rob MacCachren, Tavo and Gus Vildosola, BJ Baldwin, Apdaly Lopez and Lalo Laguna. Lopez was first off the line and was first on course for 300 miles before giving up the lead. Despite the speed of the course, several drivers had problems and posted a DNF, including Baldwin and Post/ Jones. The majority of the course was also just a single lane wide, making passing very difficult for the drivers. When the dust settled in Loreto, Lalo Laguna emerged as the race's Unlimited Trophy Truck winner. 010 SCORE JOURNAL
