172 | AUGUST 2015 nshoremag.com RENEW YOGA STUDIO YOGA SAKTI Everything, and we mean everything about this health haven is top-notch. There's a meditative quality about the en- tire facility—from the décor details to the gleam of the sprawling studio floor (you'll never encroach on someone's else's per- sonal space in this studio!) to the well-ap- pointed, spa-like locker rooms. The space, top to bottom, is just beautiful; clearly, great care was taken to make it feel like a retreat. In fact, it is really more than just a yoga studio; it's a whole wellness center. In addition to the studio proper, with its impossibly high ceilings, spotless bamboo laminate floor, and high-end line of props, there is a TRX studio, a spinning room, and a series of wellness providers located in the same building and working in part- nership with Yoga Sakti. As for the yoga classes, there are a great many to choose from, and they range in style from the basics to hot power to Vinyasa, restora- tive, and a version for novices. We've yet to come across a yogini who doesn't rave about this studio. It's been a long-standing favorite among readers, and it clearly de- serves their devotion. 29 Bridge St., Salem, 978-412-4286, yogasakti.com H O T I N T H E H O O D HOME YOGA A little over a year ago, Kristin Olson moved her practice to the lower level of the building in which she teaches. Now, her studio accommodates large classes, which usually fill up with regular devotees who all seem to say the same thing, "Kristin is just great." She and four other instructors use the YogaWorks method, which combines el- ements of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga. Her very thoughtful online class descriptions give a real sense of what to be prepared for. We have found she delivers exactly what's promised. 28 Chestnut St., Andover, 978-528- 4290, andoverhomeyoga.com A YOGA PRACTICE A class with owner Sylvia Clement is simply restorative. Her small but prettily appointed studio offers an intimate, quiet space in which to breathe and move in time to her relaxing (French-accent- ed) prompts. She offers gentle sessions as well as more challenging hot power yoga, to which regulars are almost addicted. Expect a very warm welcome, a supportive environment, and effective meth- ods for improving mind, body, and soul—that's A Yoga Practice. 65 Central St., Georgetown, 978-352-8886, ayogapractice.net R E A D E R S' C H O I C E Y O G A S A K T I "Yoga Sakti is one of the best things to happen to me since moving to Salem. They offer such an array of classes, which are all easy to sign up for online. They also offer classes all day long, beginning at 5:30 a.m. and the last one starting at 7:30 p.m. The instructors are top-notch and the studio is gorgeous. I honestly can't say enough good things. I've thought about moving closer to my job, but one thing keeping me in Salem is this studio. All the instructors are amazing, but I especially love Kat, Tabatha, and Jennifer Craig. I'll be coming to this studio for a long time. " –M.G. TOP 10 YOGA STUDIO READERS' CHOICE VOTES photograph by Sarah Jordan McCaffery Home Yoga 1 . Yoga Sakti, Salem 2 . Home Yoga, Andover 3.
