Arrive early to secure a spot on the grass with about 5,000 other music lovers, or dock your boat to listen to tunes. Past years' national acts have included Toad the Wet Sprocket, Delta Rae, and Matt Nathanson. Program director Matt Phipps carefully selects the lineup each year, mixing familiar artists with up-and-coming singers and local bands. The headliner for this year's fest will be announced August 1. In addition to free music day and night on several stages, a juried 200 | AUGUST 2015 nshoremag.com craft show, and food trucks serving everything from clam chowder to curry, planners are throwing a citywide birthday party for the Coast Guard, which turns 225 this year. Look for tours of the Coast Guard station, boating safety demonstrations, and other special events throughout the week. Returning popular events include many kids' activities, a beerfest, a road race, spectacular fireworks, and the beloved parade, packed with marching bands, floats, and antique cars.
