This contemporary twist on a Japanese ramen bar promises speedy and perfectly seasoned noodle dishes every time. Local Gloucester haddock is another reason to pop in and grab a menu, as are the umpteen crazy cock- tails that are constantly being churned out from the bar. Truth is, this funky little bistro is full of memorable goodies (the Molten Chocolate Cake springs to mind). The reviews are in, and they have a whole lot of stars attached to them. 15 Walnut Road, South Hamilton, 01982, 978-468-2434, 15walnut.com. $$$ ALCHEMY TAPAS & BISTRO According to the buzz, downtown Gloucester's Alchemy is "suburban chic." With multiple seating options including The Mafia Table, Brick Room, Community and Tapas Tables, and a room dubbed "The Cave"—its creators have evoked the spirit of a bohemian café. Unfathomably fresh seafood, an established "Drink Mission," an eternal list of teas and beans, and a rotating art exhibit make it something of a coffeehouse-meets- boutique eatery. The must-not-miss list: Women, Wine, & Chocolate Wednesdays and Sunday Bluegrass Brunch. 3 Duncan Street, Gloucester, 01930, 978-281-3997, alchemygloucester.com. $$$ FOREIGN AFFAIRS WINE BAR & BISTRO Executive Chef Doug Papows lends an international tilt to American bistro cuisine with his Foreign Affairs Wine Bar & Bistro. His passion for sourcing regional ingredients is evident in dishes like the pan-seared Faroe Island Salmon or Smokehouse Sampler. Featuring seasonal desserts from a local baker and a wine list spanning the globe, Foreign Affairs is one stop on the map you don't want to miss! 26 Central St., Manchester, 01944, Come for the menu.
