Just think of it-every- thing from cotton candy to midway rides to outdoor concerts to livestock shows. The 2015 Delta Fair will offer all of this and much more. Boasting the slogan "The People's Holiday", the 185th Anniversary Edition is set to commence its annual four day opera- tion from Thursday, July 23 to Sunday, July 26. A star studded line of headline acts will once again be available throughout the fair. Kicking off the four day extravaganza is the first of three magic shows by Clarol the Clown at 1 p.m. followed by the Ambas- sador Pageant at 5 p.m. The fair will officially open at 6:30 p.m. at which time the 2015 Delta Citi- zen of the Year will be announced followed by the ever popular East Coast Comedian, Jimmy Flynn at 7:00 p.m. Music lovers will be able to enjoy the country music sounds of Texas Tuxedo who will be performing on the Main Stage at 8:30 p.m. Friday's showcase starts off at noon with the first of four Ry-Guy's magic shows followed by Big Time Pro Wrestling at 1 p.m. and the Bob Burtch band at 2 p.m. Fairgoers will enjoy an adrenaline rush as Motor Madness will present the best of motorcycle and automo- bile thrills and stunts at 7 p.m. An evening of music will also be provided by the Rock Wizard DJ ser- vices as well as mechani- cal bull rides will be avail- able starting at 7 p.m. Saturday's line-up starts off with the horse draw at 10 a.m., followed by lawn mower races, three shows by Guinness World Record Holder Illu- sionist Lucas Wilson, magic shows, and the music of Irish Roots who will be performing at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. There will be a chicken barbecue held at 4 p.m. before an evening performance by Grand Ole Opry Star David Frizzell at 7 p.m. followed by the best of comedy delivered by the Yuk Yuk's Comedy tour at 8:30 p.m. Elgin Days take place this weekend, July 10, 11 and 12 with a variety of new activities to ramp up the summer gathering. Friday's activities include a spaghetti and quiz night at the Lions Hall from 5 to 9 p.m. and euchre at the community hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's line-up includes activities at the Bethel church including bouncy castles, a petting zoo, hotdogs and freezies. Around the Municipal Complex there is a bake sale, rockathon to benefit local CPHC service, a book sale and games, the Button Lady, Elgin Giving Gardeners and Music by Tim Hallman. Just up the street there is an open house at the Red Brick School that includes the heritage soci- ety's garage sale. The United Church is holding a bake sale and a Heifer International exhibition. At Angies Snack Shack Ray's Reptiles will be on display from 1 to 2 p.m. A car show will be held at the Lions Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. before the firefighters' chicken bar- becue from 4 to 7 p.m. with live music from Southbound. HOTEL KENNEY Since 1877 •Continued on back page Elgin Days this weekend Two Kingston men died in Bob's Lake Sat- urday after the canoe they were in capsized just before 9 p.m. Frontenac OPP responded to a report of the capsized canoe approximately 100 meters from shore, on Mica Point Lane south of Crowe Lake and Boling- broke. When the canoe cap- sized, two adult males and a 3 year- old boy were sent into the water. Bystanders in the nearby cottages were able to safely pull the child out of the water because he was wearing a life jack- et. The two adult males went under the water. A rescue effort was con- ducted by police, fire and civilians. The rescue effort ceased due to lack of daylight and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) were contacted to attend the scene.
