choice but to bootstrap. Since then, a number of successfully bootstrapped companies
have risen to prominence for their disruptive business models, pioneering products or
services, and groundbreaking advances in the use of technology. This raised the profile
of bootstrapping as a slow, but steady means to capitalize.
Bootstrapping gets a bad rap because people have become more risk-averse these
days. There is also a prevailing notion that bootstrapped startups either grow slowly or
fail immediately. In this panel discussion, all these myths are debunked.
Bootstrapped companies can consistently achieve high-growth rates during its early
years of operation, take on large clients to boost their portfolio and earn a formidable
position in the marketplace amidst economic uncertainties. In fact, 60% of Inc. 500's
fastest-growing companies in the U.S. (including ÄKTA) were bootstrapped with less
than $10,000 in capital. Compare that to the 7 percent which were venture-backed.
