SCORE JOURNAL SPECIAL SHARE PAGE 059 SCORE JOURNAL A CLOSER LOOK AT ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGN'S BAJA XT AND XTR TRUCKS W ith desert racing technology becoming available from the after-market, companies like Addictive Desert Designs in Mesa, Arizona, has filled the void of a Raptor-less market, with a well-engineered Ford F-150 that can offer a higher level of extreme off-road performance.. The Baja XT and XTR are the company's latest creations that are based on the standard Ford F-150, but built to be a notch or two above the capabilities of the Ford Raptor. "We have taken many of the cues from the Raptor," says Greg Foutz, General Manager at Addictive Desert Designs. "But the Baja XT trucks take it a bit further with a wider stance, aggressive wheel travel, and reinforcements that strengthen the truck to be capable of the punishment produced when a vehicle can travel off- road at higher speeds." Simply stated, the ADD Baja XT and XTR are "beefed-up" F-150s with all the right parts that were designed from desert racing experience. But a company like ADD isn't just building cool-looking stuff to make these trucks look mean. It actually teamed up with Ford to design the 2015 model Baja XT and XTR that were on display at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. More importantly, ADD has worked on Ford Raptors for more than five years and have come up with designs that improve the capabilities, and have adapted them to fit the F-150.
