THE 510.58 MILE
RACE FORGES
NEW VICTORS
THAT ALTERS THE
HISTORY OF SCORE
A
total of 210
participants from
11 countries,
started the
47th Bud Light
SCORE Baja 500,
one of SCORE's
most iconic races of the season.
With national television event
coverage, and SCORE payouts
totaling more than $138k, the
SCORE Baja 500 was the biggest
race so far of the 2015 season.
But the rugged 510.58-mile
course took its toll on teams and
drivers, as only 136 participants
were able to officially finish.
Despite this, the race saw some
drivers repeat their victories on
the peninsula, others secure a
championship, and one make
history.
RPM Offroad's driver Apdaly
Lopez, drove to an overall and
Unlimited Trophy Truck class
victory, making him the first
Mexican driver to win the race
in its 47-year history. After
starting fifth among the other
drivers in the class, Lopez drove
consistently against SCORE
veterans such as Robby Gordon,
Rob MacCachren, Gus Vildosola
Jr, Luke McMillin, and last year's
500 winner Bryce Menzies. "We
had a good day but at race mile
100 we lost our brakes and we
lost five to 10 minutes," said
Lopez. "After that, everything
went pretty well and we
regained the time."
