BASKETBALL RECRUITING BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan seemed on the verge of closing out an impressive 2016 recruiting class after landing Glad- stone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard's School five-star shooting guard Tyus Battle (Rivals.com's No. 21 player nation- ally) in June, leaving one spot avail- able for a point guard. "I thought July would be a big month for me," he said. "I put so much work into it, and I wanted to do really do well this month and get some more offers. I've been shooting the ball pretty well and rebounding better, especially in transition.
