Correct version: The subject is one (not things), so the verb should be is (not are). Also, they is plural but its anteced- ent is customer, which is singular. So rewrite the sentence to read: One of the first things custom- ers see when they walk through the doors at King and Bay is a bank of iPads loaded with BMO's products and services. The errors in (1) are all too com- mon. When the pronouns they or their are inevitable in your sentence, try to find a way to make the an- tecedent plural as well – as we did here with customer / customers. (2) In another larger study of 4,757 adults, those who broke up there sedentary time more often were more likely to have lower waist circumference and better health markers then those who had less breaks in their sedentary time. Correct version: Change there to their; change lower to smaller (more appropriate when describing circumference); change then to than; change less to fewer (items that could be counted). So the sentence should read: In another larger study of 4,757 adults, those who broke up their sedentary time more often were more likely to have smaller waist circumference and better health markers than those who had fewer breaks in their sedentary time.
