S P E C I A L A D V E R T I S I N G S E C T I O N AUSTIN PREPARATORY SCHOOL is on a journey in the footsteps of St. Augustine, who articulated that we have two teachers: internal and external. Along their journey, Austin students learn to listen, and follow, the voice of their inner teacher. Call it religion, spirituality, or ethics; each student learns that habit of mind and heart. And that affects their lives, not just their studies. Ask anyone who has spent any time with us and you'll hear about the Austin community. Diversity matters, and the school welcomes different personalities, viewpoints, ideas, and life paths. Bement's rich, secondary school preparatory curriculum motivates and challenges its academically diverse, international, and multi-cultural student body with thematically coordinated courses, a renowned fine arts program, and a variety of athletic offerings. The student/ teacher ratio is six to one, and class size averages 12 students. Upper school students may participate in an exchange program with L'Ermitage School in France, and trips are offered regularly to China and various Spanish-speaking countries. In addition, ninth grade students travel to the Dominican Republic to participate in a service learning program at the La Suiza Orphanage. ¢ "Bement is a close-knit community where the whole child is valued, and emphasis is placed equally on academic achievement, hard work, mutual respect, and the importance of being a good citizen."—Kim Loughlin, Director of Admission and current parent BERWICK ACADEMY offers a rigorous academic program, coupled with significant opportunities for enrichment in our award-winning arts and athletic programs.
