students learn about and apply for higher education options. During this year's commencement ceremony, nearly $100,000 in scholarship funds was awarded to the graduates. The approach is yielding results. Seven years ago, the dropout rate in Peabody was 4.3 percent, according to state numbers. Last year, it was down to 1.1 percent, the lowest in the town's history, according to Bedard. Since the school was launched, 81 students have graduated and more than 50 have gone on to pursue two- or four- year college degrees.
