The Community and Primary Health Care (CPHC) office in Westport is slated to become a Com- munity Health Centre by Nov. 1. Discussions are under- way between Portland- based Country Roads Community Health Cen- tre, CPHC and the province over the transi- tion. The information was made public at Westport's regular council meeting Monday night, but, with discussion ongoing, little else is known about the transition. Village of Westport's Mayor Robin Jones acknowledged the progress made so far is moving in the right direc- tion. "The most important issue is that all residents of the Village have access to first-class professional medical care. "I compliment both the CPHC Family Health Team and CRCHC for their willingness to work together and focussing on the patients," she said in a press release. With a long-term goal of providing sustainable, inter-professional health care services the Family Health Team is looking to transition to the Country Justin Martin President 613-530-0773 RR 2 Westport, ON K0G 1X0 jtmartin@kingston.net 4 Septic Systems 4 Excavating 4 Landscaping 4 Road Work 4 Rock Excavating 4 Trucking 4 Residential & Commercial Snow Plowing & Sanding 4 Damp Proofing LTD. 75 units from 6'x6' to 12'x36' Easy year round access right in Westport 75 units from 6'x6' to 12'x36' Easy year round access right in Westport 75 units from 6'x6' to 12'x36' Easy year round access right in Westport 75 units from 6'x6' to 12'x36' Easy year round access right in Westport Soho's Self Storage Soho's Self Storage Soho's Self Storage Soho's Self Storage Soho's Self Storage 75 units from 6'x6' to 12'x36' Easy year round access right in Westport 43 Bedford St., Westport 613-273-8848 soho@rideau.net Mirror The Review Thursday, August 13, 2015 Serving North Leeds and area since 1893 Vol. 123, No. 32 $1 incl. tax "In the depths of winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." Maier rowed the boat to Port- land from his cottage on Fairview Island. Members of the Big Rideau Lake Association (BRLA) and enthusiasts of classic boats were often one and the same at the BRLA 100th anniversary celebration last Saturday. Boats from members of the Manotick Classic Boat Club along with others from around the lake and beyond were the stars of the show at the all-day event at Hanna Park. Along with old boats there were plenty of images of people and their boats featured in a display of memorabilia mounted by the Portland Historical Society in the Skate the Lake Trailer. Photos, postcards, scrapbooks and other items transformed the trailer into a mini-museum for the day. "We couldn't have done it without all the people that brought things in," said event organizer Doug Good, an immediate past- president of BRLA. Some of the inspiration to celebrate the 100th anniversary this year was from a cup owned by the Hambleton family which was awarded at a regatta of the Protective and Aquatic Association in August 1915. Diane Hambleton, owner of the cup's which her grandparent would have won has continued the loyalty to the lake association through to her grandchildren who partici- pated in the BRLA's sail- ing lessons.
