SCORE ANNOUNCES
THE PASSING OF
RACERS BENY
CANELA AND
RICHARD BOYLE
SCORE and SCORE fans
are mourning the passing of
two racers, Beny Canela, and
Richard Boyle. Calena passed
away at age 79 and was the
owner of Canela Collision
Center in Indio, California. His
racing career began in 1977
where Canela raced in Class
2 Unlimited, before moving
into Class 8 against veterans
such as Walker Evans and Rick
Mears. Canela won the SCORE
Class 8 division at the 2008
SCORE Baja 1000 as co-driver
of record for Juan C. Lopez.
Canela also participated in the
2014 San Felipe 250, driving in a
Class 8 2006 model Ford F-150
(finishing second), and in the
2014 SCORE Imperial Valley 250,
driving Class 8 in a 1995 Ford
F-150.
Richard Boyle, age 50, lived in
Ridgecrest, California and raced
in SCORE's Unlimited Class 1.
Part of the Motion Tire Company,
where Boyle worked for more
than 30 years, his SCORE
racing career included earning
a SCORE Milestone Award in
2006. He also participated
in the 2014 SCORE Imperial
Valley 250, the 2014 SCORE
Baja 500 and most recently as a
co-driver in the 2015 Baja 500.
