But don't look to Hazell for con- firmation of importance. "There's no more pressure in Year 3 than there is in Year 1 or Year 5," Hazell said. "(Saying the season is) critical to the outside people sounds like it's a pressure thing, 'Oh, you guys have to be great in Year 3.' I don't look at it that way. All I do is look at progress and make sure we're continuing to make progress. I don't worry about the other things. "I just think we have to keep get- ting better and getting better in the win category. We see all the prog- ress, the people on the inside. The people on the outside may not see that all the time. But to be able to validate that, it obviously comes down to wins and losses. As long as we keep getting better, good things are going to happen." Good things already have hap- pened. At least for those willing to look for them. When Hazell and his staff came to West Lafayette in 2013, they were shocked at the lack of accountabil- ity and apathy in the program.
