To do this, most booster clubs have certain apparel items and styles they like to sell to make the most profits for their schools. "With a T-shirt, booster clubs can mark those up more and still make it seem like a reasonable price to the fans," Eagan states. "For example, a one-color print on 96 pieces would cost around $5. They can sell that for $10 and make $5 for the club." Hoodies are also very popular during the colder months, which allows for even more markup. The ability to appeal to booster clubs requires a variety of color, size, and style options to match team colors and patterns. Sherri McCarrell, Boxercraft, suggests of- fering a wide variety of options such as flannel pants, hoodies, T-shirts, and ath- letic wear options like shorts and practice capris to appeal to a number of preferences and end uses. In addition to typical fare like T-shirts and hoodies, clubs also tend to appeal to trends that interest students when they have the financial means to. An example of a trendier style includes the oversized boyfriend jerseys that provide ample real estate for decorations while maintaining a retail-inspired look. Another growing trend for booster clubs is to purchase sublimated spirit wear that provides bold, breathable graphics that maintain a soft hand. However, Lipsky and Krebbs both note that this method is more expensive than traditional options like screen printing or embroidering. In some cases, Lipsky adds, the additional ex- pense can be almost twice as much as its alternatives. "If a group is working on a budget con- straint, screen printing is a good option for them," Krebbs states.
