rv-pro.com September 2015 • RV PRo • 39 Newmar The luxury motorhome manufacturer introduced its 2016 lineup during dealer meetings in Nashville in May, but features included on the new models will be of interest to dealers who may not have been in attendance. A new platform – the STAR Foundation – is welded onto the raw chassis on all diesel products except the King Aire. "Our engineering department has thought for years that with the proliferation of slides … and other features that add weight to the coach that the traditional platform that many manufacturers have been using has been taxed to the max as far as the amount of stresses and forces that can be withstood," says John Sammut, Newmar director of sales. "The STAR Foundation is a new substructure upon which everything else would be built. Although our previous platform was certainly a great one, with advancements and features that have been added to the motorhome industry, it was time to get a foundation that could deal with those stresses and additional weight and take it off the walls and floors of the home itself." Newmar also rolled out More Floor, which puts tile in the slide-out sections of motorhomes. "That not only facilitated the STAR Foundation, but in those slide-outs where there's tile in the floor, we are using an HWH slide-out mechanism," Sammut says. "All of our other units will still use our Newmar proprietary slide design, but these flush-floor systems that feature More Floor — because of the additional weight, and range of motion needed — HWH gave us an excellent solution." The Newmar King Aire will be one of 10 nameplates the manufacturer showcases for dealers. The average American spends 40 total days brushing their teeth over a lifetime.
