It really not only solidifies the partnership, but we get to know each other more on a personal basis." Of course, Blue Ox offers more formal training, too. Known as Ox Smart, it's a two-day program that covers a lot of ground. "We have our dealer service techs come in and we educate them on how to service and install our products. Last year, we had two events, and this year we're going to have two, and we may expand it to three. One of the things dealers are very passionate about is certification," she says. "We've worked hard to make sure that our Ox Smart training meets RVIA and RVDA criteria so it does count toward their certification, which ultimately lends more credibility to the program." Support After the Sale For support after the sale, Blue Ox has a customer care center in Pender. It's staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except for Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, to help dealers and customers with any technical issues. Meanwhile, a number of years ago Blue Ox expanded its footprint to serve customers more quickly by opening a Logistics Center in Lincoln, Neb., where the ship- ping, engineering, testing and marketing departments are also located. The company uses multiple distributors to get its products to parts store shelves, as well as operate its rewards program. "Our distributor partners are like an extended sales team for us," she says. "When it comes to the rewards program, we work with the dealer to identify what would suit their needs the best because with our diversified line. It's not just tow bars, it's weight distribution, it's brakes, it's chassis performance, it's goosenecks, it's the whole package put together." Based on a dealer's customer needs, Blue Ox and the appropriate distributor create a custom package to serve those needs, Kietzmann says. Although fifth wheels don't use gooseneck hitches, that doesn't mean a Quick Flip Ball won't be found in an RV parts store. "The ag dealers don't install goosenecks and they don't want to," she says. "They also don't sell weight-distrib- uting hitches and they don't want to, but there are ag customers who buy goosenecks and weight-distributing hitches every single day. That's the exposure our RV dealers receive, and that's the investment we make in their business. As we continue to grow our markets, we help our dealer partners grow theirs."
