12 GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED E'Twaun Moore is happy to be home. The East Chicago native signed with Chicago last offseason, then got an oppor- tunity with the Bulls in 2014-15, when he averaged 2.7 points and about a rebound in 56 games. We caught up with the former Boil- ermaker when he was on campus over the summer. Q: Assess your first season with the Bulls. Did it go the way you wanted it to? A: "Yeah, I fit in well. I got along with the guys. I wish I played more, but that's a coach's decision. I'm just looking for- ward to the season next year, that's all." Q: Do you feel like you're pretty well established as a guy that can be a pretty productive NBA player? A: "Oh yeah, for sure. I definitely can be productive. I show it at times by go- ing out and playing. Sometimes you just need opportunity, and you have to take advantage of every opportunity you get." Q: When you came out of college, how much of your goal was to es- tablish yourself right away and get established as an NBA play- er, and do you feel like you're there? A: "My thing is I just try to keep getting better. That's my goal, to keep trying to get better every year and let everything else take care of itself. Some of the other things you can't control, but you can control your work habits and if you want to put in extra work every day." Q: How much has versatility helped? A: "It definitely can. Versatil- ity is something a lot of teams are starting to look for. They like a lot of combo guards. There are a lot of point guards. It's really 2 guards playing the point. I try to take it to my advantage and use it." Q: I know you had to handle the ball and make decisions at Purdue, but has the move to point guard in the NBA been an easy transition for you to play that posi- tion at that level? A: "It hasn't been tough for me because I'm a student of the game, and I'm always watch- ing film. I'm always seeing what's going on. It hasn't been tough for me. You just have to keep work- ing. The more you work, the better you get." — As told to Brian Neubert Boiler Index Photos by Chicago Bulls (Moore) First show Friday, Sept. 4 Special guest athletic director Morgan Burke Gold and Black LIVE featuring the staff of GoldandBlack.com Interactive live video-stream sports talk show — ask questions, chat with other fans!
