Founder and CEO of FUBU and
Personality on ABC's Shark Tank
player for four years."
Martinez said, too, that Ed-
wards' competitiveness should
jibe well with Painter's ways.
"He's just a winner. He com-
petes, loves to play, loves game
time. He doesn't shy away from
it," Martinez said. "He loves being
out there, loves having the ball in
his hands. You can't rattle him
much. He's like any other player
in that sometimes you might have
to settle him down, but he's defi-
nitely a gamer, a guy you want on
the floor in a big moment. When
the ball is in his hands, he's try-
ing to make plays. He's not going
to back down from trying to make
plays. He's either taking the shot
or going to drive and kick and get
a shot for somebody else. He's
been like that his whole life."
Edwards chose Purdue over
from Kansas State, Wichita State
and Texas Tech, those offers join-
ing prior ones from Vanderbilt,
SMU, Baylor and several others.
His commitment filled the big-
gest need for Painter and his
staff in 2016 recruiting, for which
they'll have as many as three
scholarships to use.
If Purdue adds more recruits
during the early signing period
— it doesn't have to, now that its
biggest need is filled — it would
seem to prefer a center, with na-
tionally recruited 5 men Schnider
Herard and James Banks being
its two remaining known targets
at this point.
