BFGoodrich pit. So I stepped up the pace to close the gap and by the 3/4 mark, Mile Marker 185, I didn't want to lose the race by a couple of seconds. So I had to push it hard, 100 percent, for the last quarter of the race." What made this race so special to Archibald, was also the fact that he is competing against some of the best teams in all of desert racing. "I lined up against all these teams and pulled off the win," says Archibald. "I drove that car really hard and I didn't leave anything on the table. It was amazing, and I had the sensation I was driving a Trophy Truck, going through the woops so hard. What makes it even more amazing is that I couldn't really see either. I didn't have my prescription glasses so I borrowed my dad's who had rose colored lenses!" Archibald's talents as a driver are evident from his San Felipe 250 win. He got into desert racing early and had a lead foot ever since. "My dad use to take me down to San Felipe when I was a kid. He loves Mexico and has a house in Baja. He put me on a three-wheeler at age seven, then a two wheel bike and finally an old dune buggy with a 40 horsepower engine by age 10," says Archibald. Racing a Class 1600 vehicle in a variety of races, including SCORE, Archibald learned how to master his skill behind the wheel. He's won several first place events and in 2012, he came close to winning a championship in SCORE but lost at the Baja 1000. "In the early days when I started racing, I had to pull the race car on the trailer with my rain gutter installation van," says Archibald. "I remember racing and becoming friends with the McMillins. Both Scott and Mark McMillin would always give me a hard time about bringing my van to the races." While Archibald doesn't come to Baja with a huge racing budget, it is evident that his business is an important aspect to his life and career. Managing both is sometimes difficult, but Archibald loves racing and won't give it up. "As the years have gone by, I realize how much I love the sport," says Archibald. "There were different years that I skipped because of the business being slow or for whatever reason, but now, I don't want to miss anything." His crew, fiancée also work with him at Archibald Sheet Metal in San Diego, California. When it comes time to race, they pack up everything and head out WITH ONLY HIS FIANCE AND TWO CREW MEMBERS, ARCHIBALD HAS HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL 2015 SEASON IN SCORE. 046 SCORE JOURNAL
