COURSE DETAILS
The SCORE Imperial Valley 250
is set up as a three-lap race
over an 85 mile desert course.
An eight-mile section of the
course includes man-made
jumps, turns, and a table top
area that expands over a square
mile. The infield area of the
course will include the start/
finish line, the main pits, the
SCORE Operations compound,
the primary spectator area
with SCOREvision, the
Monster Energy VIP winner's
circle, and food/beverage
and merchandise vendors.
The start/finish line, main
pits, primarily spectator area
and vendor's village will be
in the Coyne Powersports
Motorplex, owned by Imperial
Valley businessmen Marty Coyne
and his son Travis Coyne, both
former SCORE desert racers.
While the fastest vehicles
are expected to complete the
course in around four hours, the
time limit for each vehicle to
become an official will be eight
hours for the morning group of
classes and seven hours for the
afternoon group. All classes will
be required to cover three laps
of the race course.
Creating such a race is not
easy, but with the help of the
Motorsports Ford F-150. A
third-generation desert racer,
McMillin is a multi-time SCORE
race winner who covered last
year's course in 4 hours, 11
minutes and two seconds,
averaging 59.59 miles per hour.
Along with Matney, Fletcher
and McMillin, there are several
other racers are looking to
repeat their victories at this
year's Imperial Valley 250.
These include, Derek Murray
in his more powerful CAN-
AM in Class 19, Mark Samuels
who teamed up with Ian
Young in the Pro Motorcycle
Class, Mike Lawrence in
Class 10, and the team of
Christian Sourapas and Conor
Jackson, who won in Class 8.
