At 26, former Wolverine Max Pacioretty be- came only the third American to take the role with the storied franchise, joining Brian Gionta (2010-14) and Chris Chelios (co-captain with Guy Carbonneau in 1989-90). "He's got tenacity, leader- ship and talent to spare, and now he's the captain of the most storied NHL franchise. And to think, just a few years ago we were wondering if he'd ever play hockey again."
