enjoy years to develop. "He's still learning," pointed out former Michigan assistant coach Jerry Hanlon. "You can't come in here in a short period of time and just expect everything to fit right into place. "It's going to take him some time to know his receivers. Sometimes he looks a receiver down, and when he does that, and he's covered, then he still tries to get that ball in there. That's the thing he's got to learn not to do. "Either you eat it, throw it away, or throw it where nobody can get it but the receiver. That's tough to do. If you're just off half a foot, it can go to the other team." Rudock threw another interception and fumbled one ball away against Oregon State, but he's also done a number of things pretty well, pointed out quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch. "He's not a guy that's been prone to throw interceptions," Fisch said prior to the UNLV game. "He's thrown four, which is two a game right now. If we can have a few games with zero, he can get right back to his average. "He's got to strive to do that, get to somewhere less than 10 for the year, and try to double the touchdowns. You'd like a 2-1 ratio. He's smart with the ball and doesn't take sacks — only one sack in 76 pass attempts. That's exciting." Rudock then faced over-matched UNLV and fired another intercep- tion, the five matching his total from all of last season. Head coach Jim Harbaugh insisted it's about winning games, not about stats, following the UNLV contest, but he'll be stressing better ball security all around behind
