November 2015 The Shop 99 November 2015 The Shop 99 Hoven Vision, a San Diego- based sunglass manufac- turer, was interested in having a custom-built outdoor life- style Hoven Vision Edition off-road truck "with killer styling and serious muscle." Dragon Aftermarket Con- sulting (D.A.C.) was the selected builder, and got to work on a 2015 Ford F-150. Built as an "urban-to-trail" vehicle with subtle perfor- mance modifications to enhance the fuel-efficient engine and a mild lift to be able to conquer any rough terrain, the project started by swapping out the stock sheet metal for FiberwerX fiberglass. Front TT fenders and rear bedsides will be installed along with a Rogue Racing front bumper that will incorporate a 40-inch LED bar and fog lights. A T-Rex X-Metal mesh grille and projection headlights finish off the front and give this truck its menacing appeal. The suspension will be developed by BDS, with a 6-inch high-clearance kit being installed on the Ford along with King Shocks 2.5 Resi Coilovers, Rogue Racing tie rods and upper con- trol arms, and Hellwig sway bars. In the rear the BDS lift will feature King 2.5 Bypass Resi shocks and Hellwig helper springs. With the extra clearance from the fenders and lift, 37x12.50x20 Toyo R/T tires will be installed and mounted on 20x10 Black Rhino wheels from TSW. To help this rig stop, R1 Concepts pre- mier slotted rotors will be swapped all the way around, along with ceramic pads. Up top, a Yakima MegaWar- rior roof rack will be installed for extra storage and will feature an onslaught of LED lighting as well as an ARB awning. In the rear, the truck will feature a Rogue Racing rear bumper, LED taillights, and a bed loaded up with essential gear for any outdoor adventure, contained in a secure Truck- Vault and on the CargoGlide CG1500HD bed slide, which will all be covered by a Truck- Covers USA aluminum bed cover featuring additional rack mounts from Yakima for bicycles, surfboards, and snowboards. A set of Rogue Racing steps will be installed to ease accessing the cab and roof area. Inside the seats will be covered in Ultrasuede and black leather by Roadwire and the floors will be protected with Husky Liners. A custom sound system with new door speakers and subwoofers will be installed. Under the hood the stock engine will receive extra attention from an AEM cold air intake, ODYSSEY deep-cycle battery, Bully Dog Triple Dog Tuner, and a Magnaflow exhaust system. Participants include: Daley Visual (wraps), LINE-X, Mothers, Optima and Prestige Marketing. See the truck in the Toyo Tires Tread- pass area at the SEMA Show. Diesel tuning products company Bully Dog and lighting supplier C4 Off-Road Products present a GMC Duramax diesel pickup project named Denali HD. Design work includes SR Designs and Comer Design. Look for it at the Derive Systems/SCT/Bully Dog outdoor booth #61018 at the SEMA Show.
