COMMUNICATIONS
THE IMPORTANCE OF RADIO
COMMUNICATIONS DURING
SCORE RACING AND THE NEW
TECHNOLOGIES THAT ARE
IMPROVING HOW IT'S DONE
O
ne of the most
important factors
in a SCORE
desert race is
communication
on and off
the race course. Effectively
communicating between
driver, co-driver, pit crew,
team members, emergency
personnel and more, is a
logistical nightmare. Most of it
is done via two-way radios and
the need for it started in the
early days of Baja racing and has
been an essential component
that everyone relies on.
No one knows this more
than Bob Steinberger, aka
the Weatherman, who is the
safety and logistics radio voice
