PCI RACE RADIOS RACE PREPPED KENWOOD
TK-790 COM X ARE A POPULAR CHOICE FOR
MANY RACE TEAMS.
PCI's 4 TIPS FOR OPTIMIZING
YOUR RADIO COMMUNICATION
#1 Make sure your antenna
is tuned and that there is no
extra cable wrapped up.
#2 Test the microphone in
your helmet by kissing it. If you
or your co-driver are having a
hard time hearing your kissing
sound, the microphones
may need to be adjusted.
The Microphones are noise
canceling and when they are
not adjusted properly you
will tend to turn up intercom
volume to compensate which
will introduce more noise into
the communications system.
Properly adjusted microphones
require less volume and allow
you to communicate better
with your co-driver and crew.
#3 Communicate calmly
with normal voice or you
can over-modulate the
microphone. If you do not
receive an answer always
transmit your message in the
blind, sometimes you are being
heard and they will get the
message.
#4 All chase vehicles and
pit crew should make sure
they are charging the radio's
batteries, or run your engine
for the most output power. A
chase vehicle sitting for hours
in a pit will kill the battery and
you can be losing 50 percent
of your communication range.
