HOOSIER BASKETBALL MAGAZINE Currently in its 46th year of publication, Hoosier Basketball Magazine presents an annual comprehensive survey of all high school (boys and girls), college (men and women) and professional (Pacers and Fever) basketball in Indiana. While previewing all men's and women's college teams, as well as presenting an analysis of the NBA's Indiana Pacers and the WNBA's Indiana Fever, Hoosier Basketball is first and foremost an in-depth probe of Indiana high school basketball. Publisher Garry Donna authors a state roundup of both boys' and girls' high school basketball, ranking the state's top teams of each as well as four All-State teams for both. Donna's Honorable Mention All- State brings the number of boys and girls receiving recognition to more than 1,000 overall. Many of the state's top sports- writers and sportscasters con- tribute to 16 detailed regional roundups which highlight each semi-state's top teams and top players, in addition to thumbnail sketches of over 800 boys' and girls' prep teams. Each annual issue features a complete schedule section, spon- sored by Methodist Sports Medicine/Clarian Health. Overall (boys and girls' high school, men and women's college, Indiana Pacers and Fever) the schedule section includes more than 800 schedules. Hoosier Basketball has provid- ed coverage of girls' basketball since the 1975-1976 season. The last 34 years Hoosier Basketball has named a list of Top 100 senior girls to be considered for a Top 40 Senior Workout in Indianapolis each March. In 2008 the Top 40 was expanded to include 60 seniors. The 2016 Top 60 will be held on the campus of Marian University on March 13, 2016. Organized by Donna and direct- ed on-court by Heritage Christian coach Rick Risinger the Top 60 Senior Workout enables the elite senior players to meet and com- pete. Numerous college coaches attend to observe and evaluate. A consequence of Hoosier Basketball's involvement in girls' basketball was a lobby by Donna for an in-season tournament to showcase four of the state's best girls teams. A formal proposal to the Indiana High School Athletic Association in September, 1984 resulted in approval by its' Executive Board and a subsequent agreement by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame to host an annual Girls' Classic. On April 10, 2016 Hoosier Basketball's 29th annual boys' Top 60 Senior Workout will be held on the Indianapolis campus of Marian University. Hoosier Basketball Magazine is available each November through March on most news- stands and at more than 200 high schools.
