But more than that, she's capable of hitting a shot or two. Her height is a detriment, but she gets after it and understands her role. Stat To Know: Averaged 10 points and four rebounds last season for Carmel. Tiara Murphy 3 5-7 • G • Fr. Breakdown: The diminutive freshman is said to be an excellent, albeit streaky, shooter who competed in a national three-point shootout following her senior season. But, she'll have to learn the intricacies of point guard in Purdue's system if is she is going to make a major impact as a rookie. Stat To Know: Surpassed the 1,000-point career mark at South Bend Washington by her junior season. Torrie Thornton 4 6-0 • F • Sr. (5) Breakdown: Thornton says she's as healthy as she's been in recent memory – all things considered, with the knees being a near-constant hindrance. If so, then maybe she can be the high-energy defender and rebounder Purdue wants. Stat To Know: Averaged three rebounds in 13.5 minutes last season, a rate of about nine per 40 minutes. Justine Hall 5 5-10 • So. • G Breakdown: Hall has length on the perime- ter, a char- acteristic that is otherwise missing from the Boilermakers. That could make her a valuable com- modity, particularly on the defensive end. But for her to make a big impact, she'll have to figure out Purdue's offensive sets and be more aggressive on offense. Stat To Know: Made a couple three-pointers last season, two of her five total field goals. Bridget Perry 13 6-2 • F • Jr. Breakdown: When Perry was on the bench last season – she missed a month with an ankle injury – the Boilermakers' offense went stagnant. It missed the forward's versatility, Perry's ability to hit from mid-range and take the ball to the basket. Either opened up options for others. Stat To Know: Increased her scoring average by 5.2 points and her rebounding by 2.8 per game last season. April Wilson 25 5-7 • G • Sr. Breakdown: Wilson is going to take the lead again this season for the Boilermakers, controlling the pace offensively and being their best perimeter defender as well. She needs to be a constant scoring threat, at least to make opponents respect her and not sag off. Stat To Know: Her 4.8 assists per game last season ranked fourth in the Big Ten. Her assist- to-turnover ratio was seventh.
