VOLUME 26, ISSUE 2 87 VOLUME 26, ISSUE 2 87 Andreona Keys 24 5-10 • G • So. Breakdown: Keys was a pleasant surprise for Purdue last season, being the least-heralded freshman but the one who had the biggest immediate impact. Her body was starting to break down late last season, limiting her effectiveness. But Purdue hopes she can get back to being an all-around contributor. Stat To Know: Her 3.2 rebounds per game were the eighth-best mark among league rookies last year. Bree Horrocks 22 6-5 • C • So. Breakdown: Purdue used Horrocks last season when it needed a bigger post for matchup purposes, or if it got into foul trouble. The role expands now. The Boilermakers need Horrocks to defend and rebound, but for her to do so effectively – and consistently – she'll have to have improved her lateral quickness. Stat To Know: Hit 44.2 percent of her field goal attempts last season, the eighth-best mark among Big Ten freshmen. Ashley Morrissette 1 5-9 • G • Jr. Breakdown: In her first year as a regular – and a starter – Morrissette showed an ability to score in bunches. She also showed she could shoot in a high volume without productivity. She could stand to be more efficient, particularly considering even more shots could come her way. Stat To Know: Made only 35.7 percent from the field last season. Hayden Hamby 10 5-7 • Sr. • G Breakdown: Purdue's long wanted Hamby to develop into the same type of scorer she was back in her small Alabama high school. But it's been slow to happen. Now, if she can be a consistent contributor off the bench, hustling and hitting the occasional shot, Purdue would take it. Stat To Know: Hit just a tick above 30 percent from the field last season in averaging 3.2 points per game. Nora Kiesler 12 6-6 • Fr. • C Breakdown: A big presence in the post, Purdue likes Kiesler's ability to be physical with opponents. And she has a nice hook shot, among a couple moves near the basket. She could be an effective player in the right matchups this season. But quickness is a question. Stat To Know: Averaged double-figures rebounding all four years of high school in Louisville, plus 14 points per game as a senior. Dominique McBryde 20 6-2 • F • Fr. Breakdown: Slowed up by injury to start the preseason, McBryde's not yet been able to show her full array of skills. But she has many. The forward has guard-like abilities, able to step out for a three or drive to the hoop. And she can post up. She's the prototypical stretch 4 that Purdue's looking for in its new offense. Stat To Know: Bedford North Lawrence's all-time leading scorer (1,672) and shot blocker (229). Erica Moore 21 6-2 • F • So. Breakdown: Moore fought conditioning as a freshman last season, struggling to get into the kind of shape needed to be able to be a regular contributor. A midseason suspension didn't help. But she seemed to have a great offseason, looks good and is a potential big part of a rebuilding front line. Stat To Know: Averaged 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds as a junior at Mount Vernon before missing senior year with a knee injury.
