Eat & Drink out as its likewise Russian predecessor in the same spot but don't be fooled, because the food and service are top-notch. And when we're looking for a nice hearty bowl of borscht after a long day at the office, that's all we care about. SEAFOOD RESTAURANT Readers' Pick: RED LOBSTER Multiple locations Wehave—ahem—sometimes looked ,yams, kissed with honey. And we like the atmosphere, which is attractive and arty but still comfortable, just like soul food itself. STEAKHOUSE askance at readers' perennial choice of this seafood chain, but after we heard that it's about the only place in town where we can get fried haddock on a consistent basis, their wisdom in this category was confirmed. And besides, who can resist the Cheddar Bay biscuits? Landry's Seafood nets second place. Staff Pick: CRAB CORNER 4161 S. Eastern Ave. We'd expect seafood wholesalers to run Readers' Pick: OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE Multiple locations Weused to suspect that readers truly liked Outback because of the Bloomin' Onion, the secret ingredients of which no doubt include an addictive substance, but over the years we've come to appreciate the fact that Outback changes things up on a regular basis, keeping the Victoria's Filet and the Shrimp on the Barbie while adding, say, a mixed grill. Morton's the Steakhouse finishes second. Staff Pick: MORTON'S THE STEAKHOUSE 255 E. Flamingo Road Why do we like Morton's?Well, for the a pretty decent seafood restaurant—they have the supply chain, after all—and Crab Corner never lets us down, with buckets of gloriously messy Maryland-style crabs, plus crabcakes, seasonal things like stone crabs and much more. SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT food favorites—smothered chicken and chitterlings and short ribs and more—but we're guessing that readers are particularly enamored of the cracklin', crisp-crusted fried chicken, and the sweet-potato pie with a caramelized ring of sugar around the crust. Lola's: A Louisiana Kitchen has the soul of second place. Readers' Pick: M&MSOUL FOOD 3923 W. Charleston Blvd. M&M's has the whole range of soul- Staff Pick: ELLA M'S SOUL FOOD 75 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas The fried chicken at Ella Em's is good, too, and so are the smothered pork chops, but we are downright crazy about the slightly firm black-eyed peas and the mashed Welove crab, and Crab Corner at 4161 S. Eastern Ave. definitely knows its crabs. That's why we pick it for Best Seafood Restaurant. K.M.CANNON/LASVEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL quality steaks, the truly indulgent sides, the dignified but not stuffy service and even the early-evening Power Hour bar menu, which is a true bargain. It remains to be seen if there will be changes since it was acquired by Landry's, but our unsolicited advice would be to stick with what works. THAI RESTAURANT Readers' Pick: PIN KAOW Multiple locations It's been fun to see Pin Kaow evolve over the years from a fairly spare strip-center spot to a much more ornate one with sister locations, and we expect that's the case for readers as well. But we also think readers appreciate Pin Kaow for its stable of classic Thai favorites and lunch specials that offer value as well as quality. Lotus of Siam finishes second. Staff Pick: GALANGATHAI EATERY 505 E. Windmill Lane OK, so we'll admit that one of the things we like about Galanga is that they give us the components for our Thai iced tea, which enables us to mix it to our liking, and all Breakfast /Lunch /Dinner NOW SERVING DINNER •Imported meats&cheeses •Freshly made sausages &pastas • Largest variety of olive oils&tomato products •Breads made fresh daily •Homemade desserts 736.8424 Happy Hours at the Bar •EveryDay (3p-7p) •All Day (Sun) •Reverse Hours (Mon, Tue, &Thu 9p till close) •Live Music (Wed, Thu, Fri, &Sat 7p till close) •Newly remodeled Patio/Full Catering Available Authentic Italian cuisine created with the finest ingredients by Chef 9500 W.
