56 RECRUITMENT the Groundsman April 2012 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FOOTBALL CLUB ASSISTANT GROUND STAFF Tottenham Hotspur Football Club's thriving Grounds Maintenance Department requires a number of Ground Staff to assist in tending the pitches at the new training ground in Enfield (due to be finished June 2012). Initially, for some time during the first few months of employment the successful candidates may be required to move between the Club's current training ground in Chigwell and the new training ground in Enfield assisting in providing efficient day-to-day maintenance of the pitches. These positions require people who have had previous experience in a similar environment with a full driver's licence and an NVQ Level 2 qualification as a minimum. The successful applicants should be happy to work as part of a small team but also be able to work on their own initiative. A flexible approach is very important. The Trust is funded by and serves several local schools and sports clubs and will soon be subject to further development including an artificial pitch. Its objective is to provide sporting facilities including football, rugby, athletics and cricket of the best possible condition. Trinity Trust is currently seeking a suitable replacement for their recently retired Head Groundsman. The applicant should be driven with a positive attitude to achieve optimal standards with the available resources. The applicant will be able to demonstrate the majority of the following key skills: - Have the capacity to operate a variety of machinery - Ability to develop and manage a pitch usage timetable - Implement and add to a scheduled annual maintenance programme - Basic computer literacy - The capacity to develop and stick to operational budgets - Ability to maintain and carryout basic repairs to machinery - The capacity to delegate to and manage a member of staff In addition to the above, the applicant should be able to demonstrate a range of practical qualifications with PA spraying and tractor driving certifications being an advantage. The position requires a degree of flexibility, with variable working hours considered vital to succeeding in the role, similarly the capacity to deal with users and stakeholders of the facilities whilst meeting and managing their expectations will be an on-going part of the job.
