18 / NOVEMBER.DECEMBER.2015 RINKMAGAZINE.COM IT'S FOR EVERYONE As much as Raymond J. Bourque Arena was built with the pur- pose of hosting Endicott College's hockey teams in mind, the facility is more than just a venue for NCAA competition. In addition to Endicott's teams, both Beverly and Danvers, Mass., will base high school hockey programs out of the arena, as will Beverly Youth Hockey. Director of arena operations Jay Lilly believes the latter gives the facility a chance to have a huge positive impact on the community. "I think it will trigger a lot more inter- est in the sport," Lilly said. "I think from Day One, when I started talking to all the organizations, everyone was excited. At the learn-to-skate level, that's where I think they're going to see the biggest jump, ini- tially. It'll get those kids involved at a place that's close to home. I think that's going to be huge. In time, this rink will help to grow every level of their programs." Wylie agrees with Lilly's assessment. "It's a rink, yes. But really, it's an activ- ity center," Wylie said. "We're also going to have intramurals going on there. We'll also have the Beverly High School boys' and girls' teams. We'll have anoth- er local high school team playing out of it. We have several of our figure skating youth programs as well. It fills the void, not only for Endicott, but for Beverly and the North Shore community."
