veryone wants to
present themselves as
the best they can be. As a
father, I am often stressing
the importance of this to
my kids. While trying to
instill values in them, I often paraphrase
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "If you're
going to be a street sweeper, be the best
street sweeper there is."
I have found myself thinking of this
many times over the years, ironically while
I'm running the floor scrubber or sweep-
ing up a locker room at the rink. I ask
myself, am I being the best manager I can
be? Are my employees being the best that
they can be?
