This is a monumental year for U.S. Figure Skating as NSM will celebrate its 15th anniversary in January. The goal this year is for U.S. Figure Skating to distribute 600 NSM kits to programs and clubs throughout the country. NSM is an opportunity for rinks, facilities, member clubs and skating programs to celebrate skating and invite new families to try ice skating by offering free lessons, conducting skating demonstrations and promoting skating through local media. Through a series of organized on- and off-ice activities, everyone can enjoy a fun-filled day at the rink. Upon registration in the "Skating is a Blast!" campaign, managers, program directors and club representatives will receive an open house kit that includes posters, a how-to handbook, a media packet with sample press releases and announcements for customization, raffle items, posters, balloons, skating stickers and other great skating souvenirs. It's all done—organizers simply need to set a date and follow the instructions online to begin hosting an NSM event. The deadline to sign up and receive a kit is Nov. 20, or while supplies last. To register to host NSM events and request a kit, visit fs12.formsite.com/USFSAIT/ NSM2016orderform/index.html. For more information contact bglidewell@ usfigureskating.org.
