Issue 37 / MAR-APR 2012 www.guestlist.net FIELD DAY FESTIVAL 12th June @ Victoria Park Back once again and boasting an impressive line-up In recent years Field Day has really sharpened up its act. The festival now feels so much more organised and it's far more enjoyable as a result. One thing it has never had a problem with is the line-up. This year is no different. Amongst other big names, the 2012 bill includes Franz Ferdinand, Zulu Winter, Hidden Place, Hudson Mohawke, Justin Spear, Spector, SBTRKT and, Gold Panda. One of London's biggest and best one-day festivals, Field Day caters to everyone's tastes. It's almost worth going for the tug-of-war tournament alone. Tickets for Field Day are £45. Field Day marks the start of an exciting week for Victoria Park in Hackney, with Lovebox a few days after! You've gotta feel sorry for the locals. http://www.fielddayfestivals.com FESTIVAL 19 BLOC From Butlins to the Big Smoke 6th - 7th July @ London, UK It's a little difficult to really understand and appreciate the magnitude of what BLOC delivers to the electronic music scene. BLOC Weekend has been selling out every year for the last five years forcing it to move locations three times to date. After out-growing the Butlin's resort in Minehead last year, and after its euphoric fifth birthday celebration in March, BLOC is once again relocating, this time to The London Pleasure Gardens, a collection of monolithic post- industrial derelict buildings of Britain's former glory. Licensed until 6 AM every night and with a line-up that is bound to blow everyone's mind away with headline acts including Orbital, Flying Lotus, Gary Numan, Ricardo Villalobos, Squarepusher, Carl Craig, Ellen Allien, Levon Vincent, Monolake, Scuba, Four Tet, Sandwell District and many many more, BLOC 2012 is set to, once again, establish its reputation as 'one of the best festivals for underground electronic music in the UK, marrying high production values and a fairly unique site with exciting bookings both big and small'. The London Pleasure Gardens has a capacity that exceeds 7000 people but tickets are due to sell out extremely fast so make sure you book your tickets very early not to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to see all the most exciting forthcoming electronic artists of 2012 under one roof. SZIGET FESTIVAL 6-13 August @ Budapest In August, the Hungarian Sziget festival, winner of the 'Best Major Festival Award', is Europe's G-spot. Tens of thousands from all over Europe combine holiday with pleasure and come to Budapest to enjoy sunshine, sight-seeing and 24/7 party on the huge festival island. Although the festival is a party city on it's own, clubs in the city host special parties before, after and during the festival. Line-up: The Stone Roses, Two Door Cinema Club, Magnetic Man, The Vaccines, Friendly Fires, Crystal Fighters , Placebo and many others.
