PREP PROFILES Door To Ann Arbor Is Still Cracked For North Carolina Lineman Hudson (N.C.) South Caldwell four‑ star offensive guard Landon Dickerson was supposed to officially visit Michi‑ gan in early September for the Wol‑ verines' home opener against Oregon State, but just days before the game there was a change of plans. The schedule was in place and Dick‑ erson was all set to roll into Ann Ar‑ bor the Friday before the game, but offensive line coach and offensive co‑ ordinator Tim Drevno asked him to re s c h e d u l e h i s visit. Dickerson explained the rea‑ s o n i n g b e h i n d Drevno's request. "He wanted to spend a little more quality time with me," Dickerson explained. "He said he wouldn't be able to do that during a game weekend." This isn't a foreign approach, espe‑ cially with big targets, because coaches are very busy during game weekends and are often flooded with large num‑ bers of visitors. Even though the strat‑ egy makes sense, Dickerson was still a bit upset by the last‑minute change. "I'm not sure what the plan is now," Dickerson said. "I cancelled a few plans to go to Ann Arbor that weekend, and I was a little shocked about canceling the week of. If I still have interest at the end of the season, I'll make my way up." Dickerson has since taken unofficial visits to Tennessee and Georgia, as well as an official visit to Florida State. He still has upcoming officials scheduled for Auburn Nov. 28, Alabama Dec. 4 and Georgia in January. "I've kind of invested my time in a select handful of schools and those are Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn and Florida State," he said. "I haven't necessarily narrowed it down to just those schools, but those are just the top contenders right now. Some other schools may come into play." B e f o r e t h e change in plans in September, Dick‑ erson was really connecting with the Michigan staff. "I steadily built a relationship with [tight ends and assistant special teams] coach Jay Harbaugh, head coach Jim Harbaugh and Coach Drevno," Dick‑ erson said. "As our relationship grows, we really don't talk about football much. It's just getting to know each other on a personal note. That is what I like about them." It's unclear how much the Wolverine staff wants another offensive lineman, but if they choose to pursue Dickerson, he just might make that official visit to Michigan after all. — Brandon Brown ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ South Caldwell Hudson, N.C.
